Hello, my name is Jolene VarVera. I have been teaching at Wesclin High School for 21 years. In the past 5 years, I have started a Life Skills Program.
I was given the opportunity and I decided it would be challenging but very rewarding.
I can honestly say I went from teaching special education resource classes to creating a life skills program with not having many resources and not really knowing what I was doing.
So, the first thing I did was assess each of the students to find the level of achievements. From there, I have been building the program into various levels, amongst other fun and educational skills
When I am not spending time with the life skills program, I spend time with my husband and my 2 black labordor retrievers! They are so fun and entertaining. I also love walking and riding my bicycle
I am very excited about my new adventure of blogging. I hope I can help other teachers, especially to those who need assistance/question regarding setting up a life skills classroom. I hope to give and receive advice for ways to improve instructional practices.
